About Stirrup Hope
We are an EFL (Equine Facilitated Learning) program. EFL is an emerging field in which horses and humans work together as guides and facilitators to help people enhance their life skills, improve emotional well being and increase self-awareness.

It is also known as Equine Assisted Learning, Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning, Equine Facilitated Therapy and Equine Assisted Growth and Learning.

Opportunities on the farm

Time with the horses
Our program consists of non-mounted, ground level experiences with our equine partners. These experiences encourage trust, compassion, and empathy between horse and human.
Walking the trails
We have two trails to offer peaceful walks. We have a quarter mile sensory trail with swings, benches, and interactive sensory boards. Our second trail is an all-natural winding path through our hard woods and soft pines.

Fun with the donkeys
Our fun little donkeys welcome scratches, hugs, and a good grooming.
Sit with the ducks
Come sit by our pond, feed our ducks and experience tranquility.

Testimonials
My visit to Stirrup Hope was the first time that my mind was able to be still in a long time. I wasn't waiting for someone to need me, or worrying about the next task that I needed to accomplish. I know that I need to care for myself in order to appropriately be available for others and my family.
My mind was completely at rest and I was less anxious. I just existed and it was such a gift

My daughter is a medically retired U.S. Army veteran. All scars are not visible, but that does not make the need for healing any less vital. Since she has been coming to Stirrup Hope, a genuine smile and a peace has returned to my daughter. Stirrup Hope is having a powerful impact

Stirrup Hope is a breath of fresh air to the Florence community. From the moment you drive through the gates, you can feel a sense of calmness. The moment our son met the animals, a huge smile appeared on his face. He loved petting horses and feeding the donkeys and ducks. The sensory boards along the wooded trails are absolutely amazing. I'm so thankful that there is a finally a place that children with trauma or disabilities can go find their happy.
